It’s possible that candidates have not been exposed to the information in these books before. The study period is important for learning purposes and is also an important developmental experience for candidates.

FCO 101-EM and FCO 102-EM are designed for fire departments that provide EMS services. These two tests are parallel forms, meaning they have the same subtest areas and weights, and are composed of questions which match each other in terms of difficulty, discrimination and SME ratings of importance.
FCO 103 and FCO 104 are designed for fire departments that do not provide EMS services. FCO 103 has 88 questions in common with FCO 101-EM without the Emergency Medical Care component.
FCO 104 has 88 questions in common with FCO 102-EM without the Emergency Medical Care component. FCO 104 was designed to be an alternate form of FCO 103 and has only 10 questions in common with FCO 103.
Both tests are supported by a content validation study that includes an extensive job analysis and thorough test item review by 18 or more subject matter experts in the firefighting field. The technical report for the FCO Series provides complete information on the job analysis, test development, and validation processes used for these tests.
Unless otherwise noted, all test orders are subject to a $90 base administration fee to each test title ordered, regardless of the quantity of tests ordered. This fee will be automatically added to your shopping cart along with your test.
