To retain the IPMA-HR Certification designation (IPMA-CP or IPMA-CS), an individual must accumulate recertification points every three years and submit a completed Criteria for Recertification Form.
The Executive Council recognizes that due to the economy, it may be more difficult for individuals to participate in professional development programs. In recognition of this, the number of points needed for recertification has been reduced from 50 to 40 (for those recertifying in 2012). This reduction is temporary and will be reviewed annually by the Executive Council.
Earning points towards recertification can begin immediately after receiving the initial IPMA-HR Certification designation. Points cannot be carried over for future recertification.
