Executing Your HR Strategy: Health Care Reform – Is More Than Just Benefits…

Cost: Complimentary - Sponsored by ADP
Date: Thursday, March 8, 2012
Time: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

This complimentary webinar, brought to you by ADP and presented by John A. Haslinger, will provide an overview of health care reform - its objectives, timing and requirements, as well as the legal challenges that have been raised - with an emphasis on what employers need to be thinking about and planning for between now and 2014.

The world of health care was complex enough when everyone understood the rules - ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FSA, HRA, HSA - an alphabet soup of rules and regulations...but at least a familiar one. Welcome to the brave new world of health care reform - a world in which benefit administration can no longer stand alone and separate from other HR activities - a world in which, for example, the ability to integrate Benefits, Payroll and Workforce Planning becomes critical.

Did You Know:
  • Health Care Reform will impact your Benefit programs and systems…but will also impact Payroll, Workforce Management, and Time & Labor Management systems.
  • The average cost for family health care coverage was $7,061 in 2001 and $15,073 in 2011 – an increase of 113.5%.
  • Health care costs have increased at two to three times the rate of inflation for more than 60 years.
  • Less than half of employers believe that they fully understand the requirements of Health Care Reform.

In addition, this webinar will discuss the necessary convergence of Benefits, Payroll, and Time & Labor Management required under Health Care Reform.  The focus will be on making sure that participants have the necessary knowledge and tools to successfully navigate health care reform and execute their benefit strategy.

Topics covered will include:
  • W-2 Reporting
  • Exchanges – both public and private
  • Newly mandated communication requirements
  • Shared Responsibility Assessment – “Pay or Play” and the impact on Workforce Management
  • The “Cadillac” excise tax – and its impact on strategic benefit plan design

PeopleAdmin, the leading provider of on-demand talent management solutions for higher education and government, will co-host a webcast with the International Public Management Association for Human Resouces (IPMA-HR) and featuring the City of Goodyear, Arizona. Please join us to hear about the benefits of engagement-focused employee onboarding.

Onboarding is the process of meeting new employees' immediate needs and it is the first and best opportunity to turn new hires into productive, happy and successful employees. Prompt delivery of the necessary tools can help employees feel immediately valued and productive.

However, planning for critical activities such as training, mentoring and probationary reviews extends well past the traditional orientation. These relationship-building activities help extend the strong reputation and culture organizations work so hard to promote during the recruitment and hiring phase.

In this webcast Sondra Healy, Employee Development Manager for the City of Goodyear, will discuss the details on their particular process for successful onboarding. She will discuss some of the creative and efficient ways her organization develops employees from the first day to the first year.

Neil Reichenberg, CAE, Executive Director, IPMA-HR and PeopleAdmin’s government solutions expert, Ty Landry will join Ms. Healy and speak to the benefits of onboarding and how it can improve the employee engagement process.

From the panel of experts, you will learn:
  • How engagement positively influences productivity, retention and morale, and how that can have a tangible impact on the organizational mission
  • How you can improve tactical efficiency and compliance across traditionally disparate groups
  • How to prolong the facilitation of relationships, improve line-of-sight from job duties to agency initiatives, and ultimately improve employee engagement
  • How technology can pull it all together through automation, data capture and visibility
